8:47 am - Friday - April 9th - Seal Rock, OR - 37° F, 87% humidity, wind - zero mph out of the north.....beautiful, sunny day now...a good day to be alive.....our high today will be 48° F. On this date in 2015 we were in Bluff, UT having lunch at Twin Rocks Cafe.......↴
Okay, at last I am caught up and actually writing about what happened yesterday, Thursday, April 8th.
I was up at my usual time on a work day, 7:20 am. It appeared to be partly cloudy at the time, but by 9 am it began to rain, and rain on and off for about 90 minutes, but I went to work anyway. Terry was off work, as he usually is on Thursday, but asked me to bring the front loader down to move some more gravel....we apparently received a new gravel shipment on Wednesday. Before I could do that I needed to replace the missing pin on the loader bucket. I didn't mention this when I wrote about last Thursday, but as I was finishing spreading gravel in site #15 I discovered one of the four pins affixing the bucket to the tractor had fallen out, and try as I might, I could not find it. I found a receiver hitch pin in the tool shed that was the right diameter, but about 1.5" too short, however, it worked well enough for me to return the loader to the barn. I reported the missing pin to Terry that day. He was unable to find a replacement pin locally, so he bought a 6" x 3/4" bolt which did the job.....
.....the bolt fit perfectly diameter wise, but is a little long, as you can see above. I drilled a hole in the threaded part of the bolt, and used a nail as a cotter pin (we have none right now), but will hold until we get some new cotter pins. With that I was off down the hill.....
It was a beautiful day in our neighborhood Thursday
.....my gravel moving assignment was to work my way around the sites which need more gravel, put at least a fine layer of gravel in each site from front to back, and where possible make them more level....
.....by 12 pm I had laid down a good layer of gravel in site #13, and made it more level. Our summer season host couple should arrive shortly and they will occupy this site for the season. With that I put away the tractor, and hopped in the golf cart to check all the sites in which had arrivals that day. I was home by 12:45 pm.
The rest of the day I spent watching The Masters on ESPN...it is good to be home! We were treated to a very nice sunset.....wow, the sunset is continuing to move further north on the horizon.....
.....oh, I almost forgot.....we got the new thermal pad for our portable firepit so we can set it on our 'lido deck' now.....looking forward to our first sunset fire from the 'lido deck.....
.....thanks for stopping by!
