8:03 am - Fifth Saturday - June 4th - Seal Rock, OR - 52° F, 88% humidity, wind 3 mph out of of the east.....mostly sunny skies today with a forecast high of 60° F. On this date in 2011 TLE and I were riding our bikes on the Santa Ana River Trail near Riverside, CA.......I'll bet you might not have known there is a flowing river in SoCal year round......↴
We had another heavy marine layer which never quite burned off Thursday, which is really our Friday, and, in fact, it was misting from time to time as I worked mowing and edging sites C, D, 41, 40, 39, 38, 1, 2, 3 & 4 during my three hour work shift. The air was heavy, which caused my protective eyewear to fog up as I breathed heavily through my face mask. Since I wasn't about to take off my protective eyewear so I could see what I was doing I lowered my mask. I can see a time coming when it will become a constant choice between wearing a face mask, or very necessary protective eyewear while working with a weed trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, etc. outdoors in a humid climate. My choice will be simple....there's a greater chance of eye damage from flying rocks/debris than there is of catching the Wuhan flu. By the time 1 pm came around I was beat, and my clothing was soaked with perspiration due to the high humidity. I put away my tools, and slowly walked up the 12% grade to our home on the hill.
TLE worked a split shift in the office (9 am to 12 pm & 1 pm to 4 pm), and remained quite busy for the entire time she was on duty. It is now after Memorial Day, and with many schools out for the summer things are getting quite busy on the Oregon Coast.
After cooling down from my three hours of exertion I took a long, hot shower which seemed to restore my energy levels. After my shower I went outside to clean the salt residue off the windshield, and within minutes of doing that it began to mist.....oh well....I tried.
It wasn't long until TLE came bouncing home to join me in beginning our 3 day weekend.....how I love the sound of that!
