7:37 am - Wednesday - June 23rd - Seal Rock, OR - 54° F, 100% humidity, wind 3 mph out of the north.....heavy marine layer, a little mist today with a forecast high of 60° F. On this date in 2013 we were in Spearfish, SD hiking with good friends David and Denise Zonker.....standing on top of Lookout Mountain......↴
Tuesday is one of my least favorite days....well every other Tuesday.....that is the day we clean the filters at the WDS (Waste Disposal Site) plant. It only takes 25-30 minutes, but it is a stinky job as you might well imagine. I met Terry there around 10 am to do the deed, and by 10:30 am I was changing clothes, and on to regularly scheduled activities, which, ironically, on this day involved mowing and weed whipping the WDS grounds. Normally we don't rake up cut grass, but the grass had grown so long that it was necessary, so what would normally have taken me about 90 minutes took over almost 2.5 hours.
The weather here in Seal Rock has been kind of gloomy for the past 5 days, and in the evenings the mist is so heavy we can see water running down it from the roof. In the mornings it looks as if it has been raining, but it hasn't. The north wind has not really returned, and daily highs in the 60's allow me to work in shorts and a t-shirt.....no flip flops though....lol. It appears we are in for a warming trend this weekend with the daily high hitting 77° F by Saturday. Inland temps will hit 100° F in Medford this weekend, and in Redding, where we are headed on Thursday, it will be 110° F on Friday.
Why are we driving to Redding, CA? Well, our VW is still registered in California, and its registration is up in July. Every other year we must take it to a California smog check station to recertify is is clean enough to drive in California. Redding is the nearest place in California where there is a smog check station able to certify us for SoCal. Back in 2017 when we were still in South Lake Tahoe we had to drive all the way to Stockton, CA to get it done. Kind of a pain in the you know where, but until we change our domicile that is what we must do. Fortunately we do not have this issue with the Newell as it is exempt.
Well, I hear TLE preparing breakfast, so I had better wrap this up....thanks for stopping by!
