49......

10:04 am - Monday - August 19th - LPG&RVR - 69° F, humidity 29%, wind 9 mph out of the south.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 83° F.  On this date in 2016 TLE and I were at Walker Burger in Walker, CA.....one of the best burgers in the Eastern Sierra.....

The starter's tee time sheet showed we would need 7 carts for those with advance tee times, so I staged just 9 Yamaha gassers....no point in putting out the electrics on a slow day.  We ended up renting all 9 Yamahas, and 1 Club Car 4 seater over the course of Sunday.  Once again there was no mowing, or trimming for me, but I did finish weeding the area at the back of the pull through gravel sites, and then hauled away one trailer full of young tumble weeds.

I made several passes around the golf course, and had to caution a few folks on keeping their carts on the grass.  People don't seem to realize that these are gas power golf carts with hot mufflers, and exhaust pipes, and pulling them into the brush can start a fire.  The secondary problem with driving through brushy areas is tire punctures.  These tires cost about $150 per tire, and we have to replace 5-10 tires a year because of customers driving through the brush.

It was just the kind of Sunday the doctor ordered.....nice, and relaxing.  I gave TLE her lunch break at 12 pm, and then headed out for another round of the course as marshal.  I haven't been able to rake the sand trap at the 15th hole in over a week as it always has standing water in it first thing in the morning, which makes it impossible to rake, but at 1:15 pm on a warm, windy day it had finally dried out so I took time to rake it.  That hole just gets too much irrigation at night, but I understand the need to keep the green complex GREEN, so it is what it is.

By 2:45 pm all but 3 carts had been returned, so I washed the 7 that were there, and stowed them.  Around 3:15 pm I went home for a little over an hour before returning around 4:45 pm to wash, and stow the final 3 carts.  I like to be sure all the carts are put away when we have a shift change, and don't like to leave unfinished business for Lynn (my counterpart).

While I waited for TLE to finish closing down the office for the day I practiced my putting, and am continuing to see improvement in making those longer 2nd putts.  The key to the putting contest is making every 2nd putt (if you haven't been lucky enough to sink the first putt....lol).  The 1-2 footers are not a problem for me, but when they get over 3 feet I am very inconsistent.

TLE and I were home by 5:30 pm, and on the 'lido deck' shortly thereafter to enjoy the beginning our four day weekend, imbibe a few adult beverages, and for me, a couple of cigars....

Almost sunset

....we hung out there until almost 8 pm it was such a lovely evening.  Just 49 days left in the season.....time does, indeed, keep 'slipping into the future'.

Thanks for stopping by!
