11:58 am - Wednesday - August 14th - LPG&RVR - 75° F, humidity 23%, wind 5 mph out of the west by southwest.....clear, blue skies today, with very little smoke....forecast high for today is 84° F. On this date in 2010 TLE and I were riding our tadpole trikes on the Pacific Electric Trail in Rancho Cucamonga, CA......
For the second time on our four day weekend we completed our out and back 2 mile walk, and my knee felt/feels just fine, thank you very much.....
.....we managed to average 3.1 mph again, and were back at the Newell within 39 minutes. We've now walked 76 miles this season, and should still be able to hit our 100 mile goal now that my knee is feeling so much better. Once we were done walking, and I had done my strengthening exercises for the first time in a week, or so, I got a cup of coffee, and sat outside on the 'lido deck' with TLE for the better part of an hour enjoying the early morning breezes.
Sitting around is all fine and good, but I had many deferred projects I needed to complete before our 4 day weekend comes to an end Wednesday. I moved from one small project to another, which included, but was not limited to checking all the lines I use to tie down the dining/game canopy/tent, wiping off the picnic table and benches, after which I put a bunch of stuff away in the trailer.
Next up was to regrip my 3, 5, and 7 woods so all four of my woods (driver, 3,5, and 7) will now have the same grip. All of my irons have the same grip, and I actually like those grips, but I only liked the grip on one of my woods, so I was determined to make a change. A couple of weeks ago my friend Mike Bratzler showed me how to perform this amazingly simple task IF you are in possession of the correct tools, and materials. I did not, at the time, have those tools/materials, so I ordered them off Amazon, and they arrived a few days ago. At any rate Mike installed the same grip on my Callaway Big Bertha driver as a demonstration......
....it is actually much easier than I thought it would be, and the right tools, and materials do help in making it that easy. In all it took me around 45 minutes beginning to end to strip off the old grips, remove the tape off each shaft, then apply new tape, and then the new grips.
We had planned to eat outside in the dining/gaming canopy, Wednesday evening, however, the west wind freshened again to between 15 and 20 mph, so we ate indoors. I grilled a very nice London Broil we had purchased at Holiday Market a few weeks back, and we ate around 6:15 pm.
A while back the shaft on TLE's putter broke unexpectedly, so I began the hunt on eBay to find a new one for her. She said she liked my Calloway Carbite putter that I've used for the past 3 summers, so I found her an identical one on eBay, which arrived Tuesday. It is a 'mallet' style putter....
......the last time I ordered a grip for her prior putter I bought two, so I already had the grip she wanted. She also wanted me to cut down the length of the shaft to 31" from 34", so I did that and installed the new grip....came out pretty good!
Thanks for stopping by!
