PT....

5:54 am - Wednesday - August 7th - LPG&RVR - 52° F, humidity 37%, wind 1 mph out of the south by southeast.....partially cloudy/smokey today with a forecast high of 94° F.  On this date in 2012 TLE and I were in Astoria, OR having coffee at Astoria Coffee House and Bistro.....isn't she gorgeous?......

As a result of my visit to the orthopedist (Dr. Hyda) about 10 days go in Reno I was referred to Modoc Medical Center for physical therapy for my knee.  That appointment was set for 8:45 am on Tuesday in Alturas.  I was outside around 7 am to wash a week's worth of ash off the VW, and to vacuum out her interior before our departure time of 8 am.  The ash from the numerous forest fires in the Pacific Northwest falls most everyday, and is so minute one hardly notices it most of the time, but on some days, like Tuesday, you can actually see it falling, and coating everything.

We were out the door by 8 am, and after an uneventful drive, arrived at Modoc Medical Center - Physical Therapy where I first filled out the expected paperwork, and then was introduced to Rachelle, a 20 something young lady.  There was this immediate rapport, which is so important.  I felt an immediate connection, as she is a traveling physical therapist, traveling the country as a nomad, moving from one PT contract to another.  She asked me a lot of great questions about my knee, and then began to introduce me to 5, or 6 daily exercises I will be doing for the next few weeks to not only strengthen the knee, but restore full range of motion, while abating what soreness remains after the cortisone shot I received.  All of this took about 45 minutes, and soon we were out the door and onto our next stop, the dreaded DMV, where we would make our second attempt in as many weeks to renew our drivers licenses.

I had taken time during the interim to make sure I had as many documents as possible proving we lived in California.  Some of them showed our mailing address in Rancho Cucamonga, a PO Box, and some showed our current residence, here at LPG&RVR.  The nice lady examined them, and then looked up to tell me that all of them must show the same address, and must agree with the address in their system, which I recently changed to 1255 Likely Place, Likely, CA....doh!  Foiled again!  I don't get pissed off too easily, but I am there now.  Of course, I was polite to her, it's not her nutty rules that are thwarting us from renewing our licenses.  I was under the impression after our last discussion that we just had to prove we lived in California, and provide her with hard copies.  Nothing was said about all the addresses having to be the same....double doh!

Our next stop was Grocery Outlet, then over to Holiday Market, and then we were on our way home again.  By the time we arrived back at the park it was 1:30 pm, and the heat of the day was upon us, so we closed up the windows, and turned on the A/C, while I began my first round of self imposed physical therapy.  Actually, I have to report, that after I finished my knee did feel better than it usually does in the late afternoon after I've been walking around all day, especially on days I am working.

Around 7:30 pm TLE and I turned off the A/C and went out side to watch the sun set, and what a sunset it was!.....

.....the perfect end to a delightful 4 day weekend....now, back to work!

Thanks for stopping by!
