A good day for golf....let's play 18!

6:23 am - Tuesday - August 6th - LPG&RVR - 53° F, humidity 42%, wind 2 mph out of the east by southeast......partially cloudy, smokey skies today with a forecast high of 94° F.  On this date in 2012 TLE and I were visiting the 'Goonies' house in Astoria, OR.....

 ....the view this morning....

Smokey again

TLE signed me up for a 9:45 am tee time Monday, and I am glad she did, but I was still sitting at my laptop typing yesterday's missive at 9:15 am when TLE reminds me....lol.   I had my back stretched, we were dressed, had loaded my clubs onto the cart, and I had hit 6, or 7 balls on the driving range, and were at the number 1 tee box just before 9:45 am.  My goal was to play 18 holes before it got too hot.

Hitting the balls on the driving range was a good idea as I hit a great 200 yard drive with a slight fade to the 150 yard marker.  I  hit a 7 wood pin high just to the left of the green.  I chipped onto the green, and two putted for a bogey.  On the second I hit another good drive, then a 7 iron onto the green, and two putted for a par.  There were a lot of pars and bogeys over the course of 18 holes, and I ended up shooting a 12 over par 84.  I'm routinely hitting drives off the tee over 200 yards now, and ending up with a lot of mid range iron shots into greens.  I lost track of all the ball marks on greens from high iron shots I had to repair Monday.  It just seemed that whatever shot I needed to make I was able to do so on a regular basis.  Where there bad shots....yup, there were plenty, as there always are, but the good shots far outnumbered the bad shots, and often I was able to make up for a bad shot with a great next shot.  I made two, or three long putts for par, so all parts of my game were working....

Nice follow through

....we were back at the Clubhouse after finishing the 18th hole around 12:35 pm....so 18 holes in under 3 hours.  We ordered a 'Smash Burger', which we split, from the grill, and sat enjoying the early afternoon breezes on what turned out to be a pretty clear day.  The 'Park Fire' still rages, along with many other fires, but the winds were out of the south by southeast Monday pushing all the smoke back northwest where it came from, so for at least a day we had clear, blue skies....

....by early evening the smoke had returned, and we were staring at another orange ball in the smokey western skies....

.....thanks for stopping by!
