'Real' Saturday.....

10:47 am - Sunday - August 4th - LPG&RVR - 83° F, humidity 31%, wind 2 mph out of the south by southeast.......partially cloudy today with a forecast high of 93° F.  On this date in 2016 TLE were having coffee and pastries at Alpina Coffee Cafe in South Lake Tahoe, CA.....cool, and funky....our kind of place....

I love Real Saturday.....Real?  What do I mean?  Years ago, when I retired, I began calling the days of what were my work days back in my workaday life, 1st Saturday (Monday), 2nd Saturday (Tuesday).....you get where I'm going, right?  Well, I had to rename Saturday to Real Saturday.  Why did I do this?  Well, when you retire, every day feels like Saturday.  You know....that Saturday morning feeling when you awake, and realize within seconds you don't have to go to work for two days.  I love that Saturday feeling, so why not have 6 of them every week?

I had one big repair to make to one of our Market umbrellas....it had blown over last week, and broke one of the arms off.  This happened to the umbrella I keep at the Cart Return area our first summer here, and that repair has lasted for almost three years now, so I was pretty confident I could fix this one, also.  I attempted to fix it about a week ago, but my repair was, apparently, too meager, and it broke again.  On this, my second attempt at repair, I beefed up the repair, and thought I had fixed it, but within a few hours it broke again, so I guess 3rd time might be the charm.  On my third attempt I cut a piece of flat aluminum and pushed it into the hollow interior of both arm pieces, riveted it in place with 2 rivets, then added a second piece of flat aluminum to the outside of the arm, and that appears to be successful.....so far....lol......

.....it would have been easier to just discard this 3 year old Market umbrella, and buy a replacement, but I hate to throw things away if I can repair them, and extend their useful lives.

We headed over to the Clubhouse around 3:50 pm for the weekly putting contest.  These affairs are so much fun, and win, or lose everyone has a great time.....

Good friend Greg Plumlee photo bombing my 'usie' during
the National Anthem....lol!

I managed to get through to the second round to the round of 12 (we began with 24 participants), but was defeated by my good friend Greg Plumlee (seen photo bombing my 'usie' above) in that 2nd round.  By 5 pm we had a winner, and we all, with smiles upon our faces, bid each other adieu until next Saturday.

TLE and I spent a couple of hours on the 'lido deck' Saturday evening reading, and listening to music courtesy 'Classic Vinyl'.....

TLE's geraniums are doing quite well, and have mostly recovered from their frost bite episode back in April

.....sunset is now around 8:14 pm, but Saturday's sunset went on for about 45 minutes.  A nice ending to Real Saturday.

Thanks for stopping by!
