Underage.....

5:51 am - Thursday - August 8th - LPG&RVR - 58° F, humidity 32%, wind 3 mph out of the southeast....partly cloudy/smokey today with a forecast high of 94° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were courtesy parked (Harvest Hosts) in the parking lot of Flathead Lake Winery near Kalispell, MT....

Wednesday, smoke wise, started out not too bad, but by the end of the day it was like living in SoCal back in the late 50's during a Stage 1 smog alert.  None of the local hills, or mountains could be seen, and my eyes were shedding tears.  At least my lungs were not burning....that was the worst thing about the smog back then.  I initially staged 7 golf carts, and that was all we rented.  I put out two additional carts around noon time, but by then the smoke was getting bad, and no one had any interest in beginning a golf round they might not wish to finish.

On my first round of the course in 4 days I found NO goose/duck leavings, but I did need to weed, and rake all four sand traps, which took a while.  I didn't return to the Clubhouse until close to 10 am, and it was time to do some mowing.

At 10 am on a Wednesday there were just 5 RV's in the entire park, and one tent site occupied, so it was a great opportunity to mow EVERYTHING.  By 12 pm, TLE lunch break time, I had mowed all 10 back in sites, tent sites 1-3, all four employee lawns, the three large lawns in the residential area up the hill, and the grass in the parking lot.

After TLE's lunch break I got back on the 2 bag Husqvarna and mowed all 15 pull through sites, the large grass area next to site #30, the group fire pit grass, the grass around both pavilions, and the small grass area next to the restrooms, and it was just barely 2:30 pm.  So, in 3.5 hours I mowed all the grass in the park except for the grass in tent sites 4-10.  My former counterpart (Del) couldn't get 1/2 of that done in four 4 hour days....lol.

I was getting ready to make a marshaling round of the course when TLE called me to say that someone had reported an underage kid driving one of our golf carts on the 10th fairway.  I knew who it was as I had spoken with them about the requirement for all drivers to be licensed, and at least 16 years old a few hours earlier.  TLE had done the same when they began their 18 hole round.   I headed out Likely Place toward Old Indian Road where you can see the 10th fairway from a distance, and confirmed the report was true, so intercepted them on the 11th tee, and confronted them.  At first the husband and wife lied, but I told them my boss had seen them from the front porch of his home which is on the 10th fairway, and they finally admitted he had been driving. Against my better judgement, I allowed them to finish their round without their 14 year old son driving, but they will never be allowed to play golf, or camp here again.  It turned out they had also played on Tuesday, and also been told by Kathie Smith (TLE's counterpart) about the age restriction, so they had been told three times, and still chose to give us the proverbial 'finger' and let him drive, anyway.  No doubt he was driving on Tuesday, also.

By the time I returned to the Clubhouse it was almost 3 pm, but there were only 3 golf carts to wash, meaning I would have to return around 4:40 pm to wash, and stow the final four carts.  The smoke at 3:30 pm was so bad I could hardly wait to get home, and into the air filtered, airconditioned interior of the Newell.

All the carts were returned by 4:45 pm, and TLE and I were on our way home at 5:10 pm.  Hope there is less smoke on Thursday!

Thanks for stopping by!
