Hot, hot, hot.....

5:53 am - Thursday - August 1st - LPG&RVR - 59° F, humidity 53%, wind 1 mph out of the east by southeast.....clear, blue skies today with a forecast high of 99° F.  On this date in 2018 TLE and I were hiking to the top of Acadia Mountain to view Somes Sound.....

....there was a always a granite staircase to begin every hike on Mount Desert Island.

The temperature jumped 8 degrees from Tuesday to Wednesday, but it felt like 20....lol.  The high for the day was just 94° F, but it felt much warmer.  For the second day in succession there were NO goose/duck leavings at the tee boxes for the 3rd hole.  I raked the big sand trap at the 15th hole, but left the others alone as they had no signs of previous human occupancy.  I staged 5 golf carts initially, but as the day progressed 13 were rented in all.  It is surprising how many people play golf in the heat of the day!

Wednesday was a day of many small tasks for me which included repairing another drip line which had begun leaking overnight, and the digging up a sprinkler in site #26 to add a 4" riser so the sprinkler head would be closer to grade level.  Over time the grass base has gotten thicker, and the sprinkler head was so low it could not spray, and was, instead, creating a muddy mess.

I also set some sprinklers down at the Night Registration office, mowed the last three remaining un-mowed back in sites, and the grass around the big pavilion.  To close out the morning I made a marshaling round, and was back at the Clubhouse by 12 pm to give TLE her lunch break.

It has been a while since I last dragged the cart paths to smooth them out so I spent a big portion of my final 2.5 hours of work doing just that.  It took me about 90 minutes to make my way around the entire golf course, and I was back at the Clubhouse by 2:30 pm where it was really hot.  At that point 6 of the 13 carts had returned, and by the time I went home at 3:30 pm 10 had been returned, so there will be 3 to wash Thursday morning.

The air quality improved significantly Wednesday, and by 5 pm it was as clear as it has been in over a week....

....however, the Park Fire continues to rage......those east by southeast winds are pushing the smoke back where it came from, thankfully.

Wednesday night was Charles and Phyllis' final night here at LPG&RVR.  We had salad for dinner, and talked until  7 pm, when it was time for us to head home.  We have really enjoyed having them here this year, and I played more golf during their stay than I had played in the previous 3 weeks.

Thanks for stopping by!
