Honoring and remembering......

10:24 am - Sunday - August 11th - LPG&RVR - 78° F, humidity 21%, wind 2 mph out of the west by southwest.....smokey skies today with a forecast high of 91° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were having dinner with a view at Fiesta en Jalisco Mexican Restaurant overlooking Flathead Lake in Poulson, MT.....great Mexican cuisine.....

....Poulson, MT is still one of our favorite Montana places!

Saturday was the day of the annual Rich Hamlin Memorial Golf Tournament held to honor, and remember the man who first had the vision, then carved LPG&RVR out of nothing back in the 90's.  Legend has it that Rich was having breakfast one day at the 'Most Likely Cafe' in town (no longer in business) and noticed how many RVs were heading north and south on US-395.  He spent the next 5 days counting them, and decided he had to figure out a way to get some of them to pull off the road, and spend time in Likely.....it took a while, but in the end he was successful....

Where the idea for LPG&RVR was 'hatched'

.....most tournament participants on this day were using their own private golf carts (we charge a $12 per private golf cart.....kind of like a corkage fee restaurants charge when you bring your own wine).  Only 5 of our carts were actually rented for the event, so only 10 of the 40 participants did not have their own golf carts.....

just before the start of the tournament

....after staging carts for the tournament, and for those who would play on their own I headed out to rake all four sand traps, then spent the balance of my morning marshaling around the course many times.  I only found one group (not in the tournament) who was abusing their cart by driving it through the brush along the 8th fairway.  The day was pretty smoke free......

....soon it was time for TLE's lunch break, and by 12:30 pm the first tournament participants were returning to the Clubhouse to turn in their score cards.  During TLE's lunch break I put 5 more carts out, and we ultimately rented 17 golf carts, many of which did not return until near 5 pm.  I went home around 3 pm to take a shower, and returned just before 4 pm for the weekly putting contest.  I was pretty much exhausted from 4 days of working in the heat, and did not fair well, going out in the first round.  Since I was done early, I spent the next 45 minutes washing, and stowing around 12 golf carts.  TLE didn't finish closing out the register until around 5:30 pm, so we didn't get home to begin our 4 day weekend until closer to 6 pm.

Around 7:30 pm I went outside to watch the sun set....it was getting smokey again by then, so TLE didn't want to be outside, and I don't blame her.  I, however, was out there until almost 9 pm listening to Classic Vinyl, smoking a couple of cigars, and consuming a couple fingers of Scotch single malt whiskey......

....the ambiance of our 'lido deck' is so wonderful day, or night.....

.....we were in bed a little after 10 pm looking forward to sleeping in until at least 7 am, if not later.

Thanks for stopping by!
