Cold blooded......

7:35 am - Monday - April 12th - Seal Rock, OR - 34° F, 93% humidity, wind 7 mph u tof the northeast....cold, crystal clear, blue skies today with a forecast high of 60° F.  On this date in 2014 we were hiking a slot canyon near Kanab, UT.......↴

Sunday means back to work.  Terry took me up to the barn to retrieve the Massey-Ferguson loader to move some more gravel, but after 45 minutes we were unsuccessful in getting her started....it would turnover, and fire, but would not continue running.  It is a very cold blooded beast, and to be fair it was hovering near freezing at the time.  Oh well, Monday will be another day.  Instead of moving gravel we moved 3 picnic tables which Blake had painted into sites with tables still in need of painting, and returned those unpainted tables to the landscape shed area to be scraped, and painted later in the week.  We also hauled some debris to the burn pile, which, by the way, has dried out nicely since I spread it out a while back.  We'll probably take care of burning that this Thursday.  Soon it was 12 pm, and time to call it a work day.  TLE's work schedule on Sunday was her usual (for Sunday) 2-4 pm.

I spent time watching the 4th, and final round of the Masters.  The day began with Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) at 11 under par, with his closest pursuers at 7 under par.  It is difficult to lose the Masters on Sunday with a 4 stroke lead, although a few over the years have done just that, and over the course of 18 holes one pursuer came within 1 stroke, but hit his next drive in the water, and ended up with a triple bogey on that hole.  In the end Hideki was one over par for the day, finishing at 10 under par, thus winning by just one stroke over the second place golfer.  Hideki is a first time winner of the Masters, or any golf major for that matter, and his life will change forever as a result of his win Sunday.

TLE's dyeing project of her Ekhornes Euro style recliner continued Sunday.  She is within 24 hours of being done, and bringing her chair back into the Newell. It is not often that TLE has taken on a project of this magnitude, but she has risen to the occasion quite nicely, and I have stayed completely out of it, other than checking on her progress periodically.  The chair looks great, and TLE has certainly added a new skillset to her already impressive repertoire.

The wind blew all day, and into the evening.....mostly out of the north, which kept it quite cold outside, but also kept the skies clear enough that we had a marvelous sunset.......

I had to move out to Cross Street to catch the sun touching the ocean

.....and with that delightful conclusion the daylight portion of our Sunday came to an end.

  1. I loved going to Page exploring so many things in that area. I had the awesome opportunity to go to the slot canyons twice in 2017 when I was working at the Grand Canyon. The first time was with a friend of mine that I used to work with here in Washington she had taken vacation and stayed at the Grand Canyon and we made a trip to page and did the slot tour and then we also took the boat tour which was really awesome as well. The second time I went with Kathy and with a different tour company which was interesting how they each shared different perspectives and information so that was pretty cool. Kathy and I had made a 3-day trip out of this we went to page and did the thought Canyon tour like I just mentioned we had dinner and stayed overnight.... Did we ventured on up to North Rim and spent today and then stayed overnight in Kanab and checked out a couple of the unique sites there which included the museum with some of the old sets they used for the movies and then we all so checked out Perry hotel where many of the film stars stayed when they were doing films there years ago and that was pretty interesting.
