Sunday we once again headed into town to shop, but after a stop at Starbucks to have some coffee and pastries. Next up was a stop at the local Goodwill (right next door to Stater Brothers). I was looking for a pair of work jeans for this winter as it's almost time to put away the summer work shorts one more time. I found a pair of jeans pretty quickly, which looked almost brand new for $8.99, and they fit. The best thing about them is the waist size is '34'.....I haven't fit in a 34" waist in a long, long time! Next up was Stater Brothers and a small shopping, before heading back home.
This time of year there is a literal sports cornucopia available on TV every weekend. We began Sunday watching a English Premier soccer match, then transitioned to NFL football. There was the first PGA tournament in Japan, which was won by Tiger Woods tying him with Sam Snead for the most PGA tour victories......82! Jack Nicklaus is second at 73 wins. So, now Tiger has won 3 times in his last 14 starts when no one thought he would win any tournament again, let alone win a Major. The Astros won for the third time in a row to take a 3 games to 2 lead in the World Series....what a great weekend!
A little after 2 pm we headed down to Escondido to meet our good friends Dave and Christina Rothwell for an early dinner at Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens. They arrived at exactly the same time we did....3 pm......
.....with much cooler weather than our last visit, we chose to sit outside. As expected, the brews and food were spectacular, but paled in comparison to the non-stop conversation which lasted almost 3 hours. When they came to turn on the patio heaters we knew it was time to wrap it up, and say our 'until next times', which could be a long time as they are retiring and moving to Missouri in about a week.....that's okay....we have wheels on our home, right? So, until next time Dave and Christina!
We were home around 6:40 pm, and it was already dark. I know that in a week, or two now we will have to change our clocks back one hour, which means it will now be dark at 5 pm.....here comes winter!

Retiring & moving to Missouri, I've noticed a number of people over the last 10 years or so have retired & moved, usually back to where they spent their childhood or to where their kids moved (grandkids).
ReplyDeleteThe first time I noticed this the guy moved 'back' to Missouri. They have close to real winters there ...I wondered about that.
DST ends next Sunday.
