Before returning to my split rail fence project I took about 30 minutes to straighten up the horseshoe pits. They were a mess from usage this past weekend, mainly by those related to me, but that is the point, is it not? They are there to be used, and my job is to just put them back in order for the next folks to enjoy them.
I left off my fence project at site #32 where the split rail fence bends around the corner to a walkway which takes you down to a bench, and a view of the creek......
......I needed to re-dig the post hole for the last section, and then attach the split rails to finish that section (on the right).......
.....then it was time to turn my attention to the next 6 sections which take us up to the drainage for Oak Street in this area......
....I was able to salvage the first three, or four sections before I began to dismantle the remaining 6 sections up to the drainage area.....
.....there is a lot of erosion in this area, and re-digging the post holes and setting the posts will be a challenge.....
....I had finished digging the new post holes, and was in the process of setting the posts in the holes when I got a call from Rich asking me to help him with a project down at sites 16-17. The electrical in site #16 ceased working several weeks ago, and now that the busy season has passed it is time to dig up the area between 16 and 17 to run a new underground power cable. At any rate, it was almost lunch time so I wrapped up what I was doing, and picked up TLE for lunch.
After lunch I headed for site #16 to assist Rich. We spent the rest of the day using a jack hammer to break up the concrete at #'s 16 and 17 so we can remove the old electrical pedestals, install new ones and run new underground cable. The last three hours of the day passed quickly, and it was obvious we will have at least one more day involved in the electrical project.
The weather Tuesday was 100% delightful.....if only it could be 73° every single day of the year!
