7:35 am - Sunday - March 12th - GNHS - 54° F, 67% humidity, wind 4 mph out of the northwest......partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 81° F. On this date in 2012 TLE and I were overnighting in Palacios, TX on the Gulf Coast......nice water front site.....had to drop the trailer to get this site, but worth it......↴
We had an advance booking Saturday for an eight hour rental beginning at 8 am, so we were out opening up the office at 7:30 am. There were just two advance bookings for Saturday, but we garnered two walkups, and ended up renting out 4 of our 5 UTVs....cool. The first rental was due back at 4 pm, and other other 3 at 5 pm. In all there was one 8 hour rental, two 6 hour rentals, and one 4 hour rental, so their departures were staggered throughout the morning keeping us busy. Once our customers were all on their way I worked on a couple of home improvement projects, which involved touching up the Adirondack chairs, and repainting our 'Hockwalds' sign.....
.....I haven't touched the Adirondacks up since we bought them while in Seal Rock, OR back in early 2021, so it's been two years, and bare wood was beginning to appear on the arms of the chairs. I saved one of those original 'rattle' cans of orange paint for just this purpose.
We had our 'Hockwalds' sign made by a local craftsman back in 1993 while on vacation in South Lake Tahoe with my brother and sister-in-law, so it is 30 years old this year, and still looking pretty good. I've touched her up several times over the years, but has been a few years since the last touch up.....
.....there were a lot of RZR enthusiasts in the park on Saturday. Below is the video one group of close to 40 UTVs heading out the park exit for a day of adventure, and lots of dust.....
....of course, the 3rd round of the Tournament Players Championship was also on TV, and I spent a little time sitting in one of the anti gravity chairs watching......
.....eventually our rentals began to return, and things got busy once again.....I finished fueling up the final RZR around 5:45 pm, just as the sun was setting.....
.....with the unwanted arrival of DST the sun will now be setting at 6:45 pm on Sunday. At any rate, another uneventful COA* day is in the books with no breakdowns, no accidents, and no rescues...it is a great rental day when all with which you must deal is dirty UTVs.
We headed out to the 'lido deck' for fun and games for the 7th consecutive evening (no wind). On this night Yahtzee was the game of choice, and the dice heavily favored TLE giving her 4 wins out of the six games played. After heading back into the Newell for the evening we began the task of changing clocks, and watches. As I write I am mourning the loss (theft) of an hour of my time overnight, but looking forward to retrieving it in the Fall.
Thanks for stopping by!
