Into the blender......

5:38 am - Saturday - 28º F, 77% humidity, wind 1 mph out of the north......clear blue skies promised.....still dark right now.....forecast high for today is 50º F.....BRRRRRR!!!

Friday began cold, cloudy and drizzly and it remained quite cold even though the skies cleared.....if it got to 45º F I would be totally surprised.......I had my winter parka on all day long along with a watch cap and gloves.  As is our custom we arrived at the office/store just before 7:30 am and found our office staff had already shut off the alarm and were getting ready for their day. I must say it is so refreshing to work with people who show up for work 10 minutes early, and it is so nice not to feel like it is all on our shoulders to do it all, or it won't get done.  TLE and I find ourselves in more of a supervisory roll this year.....we were so, so understaffed last year.

I huddled with my 'Ranger Crew' for a few minutes giving them instructions for the day, and then went back to the maintenance yard to do some more spring cleaning......over the course of the winter our maintenance sheds seem to become a 'catch all' for odds and ends from all over the park.  The problem is we have to clear all that stuff out just to get the Thousand Trails golf cart out so it can be serviced and ready for our resident Thousand Trails super sales person, Dan Barnette, when he arrives on the 23rd.  I spent most of the morning, and part of the afternoon clearing out the middle shed, and finally rolled the blue Yamaha Thousand Trails golf cart out into the light of day for the first time in 6 months.

By that time it was after 2 pm, and I had promised myself that I was only going to work until 2:30 pm......too many long days over the past 3 weeks have worn me down.  At any rate, my 'Ranger Crew' is up to speed, and they do not need as much direct supervision anymore.....they know their daily assignments, and it is now just a matter of getting the rest of the sections cleaned.  They are now deep into Section A, and within a week we will be gang tackling Section F, which is in the worst condition of all four.  Next Thursday we will be erecting the entertainment tent, which should take the better part of the day.

I, along with The Lovely Elaine, clocked out just after 2:30, and were home before 3 pm relaxing and not feeling so drained.....it's that last 90 minutes that gets you every time.....lol!  We continue to be so pleased with our staff, and how well they are blending together as a team.....it is a pleasure to see the camaraderie developing just as we had hoped.  You just never know how such a diverse group of people will blend together in advance, but we chose well, and are now reaping the benefit of all those decisions we made over the past 6 months.   We still have a few more folks to arrive over the next 10 days, and are looking forward to getting them up to speed.

Thanks for stopping by!
