Another 91° day was in the offing Monday (1st Saturday) as we began our day sometime after 7:30 am.....I love sleeping in! TLE made her special coffee utilizing the AEROPress coffee maker system......
....which looks something like this. It takes a while to make coffee this way, but it is so delicious it is worth the wait. During our work week we don't have enough time to go through this process, but on our off days why not, right?
TLE had been complaining that our Fantastic Fan had developed an annoying squeak and would I take it apart and check it out. The screen was a little dirty so I handed it to TLE to clean, while I removed the fan blade to apply a little silicone spray to the fan shaft to remove the squeak.....it worked! Now the fan is quiet once again.
Another small project was to figure out why the thermostat on our Norcold basement 'refer' was not cycling the cooling unit on and off.....I kept finding it running for hours at a time lowering the temperature to 28° F, which is not good for the health of beer, if you know what I mean.....not good to freeze it. I removed the control knob and sprayed some of my 'ProGold G4 connector spray into the mechanism, and what do you know? It is now cycling on and off again as it should. Sometimes things get a little dusty, and need to be cleaned.
We are at 2,200' elevation and so far that seems to contribute to rapid cooling in the early evening. Our overnight low temps are still getting into the low 50's, which is wonderful. It makes for very comfortable sleeping! Typically it only gets uncomfortably warm for about 2-3 hours each day.
We received notice about 3 pm that TLE's Vita Clay Rice 4.2 quart Cooker (really a 4 in 1 cooking system....steamer, rice cooker, slow cooker, etc.) had been delivered so we walked down to the office to retrieve it. This will replace the crock pot, which we have not utilized as much as we thought we would....
....so I am expecting that we will be doing some experimenting in the near future!
Around 6 pm I lit the Sea-B-Que to grill some chicken thighs which TLE had been marinating most the day. I kept them on the grill for about 25 minutes turning them over every 5 minutes, or so, and they came out perfect! We even ate outside at our picnic table once again. By 7 pm, however, the coolness of the evening chased us inside once again, and by 8:30 pm we had to close the screen door.
