For the first time in a few weeks I spent a couple of hours servicing the pool and Jacuzzi. Since the pool temp is in the low 50's no one has been using the pool for weeks now, so no need to sweep and vacuum it every week, but we do need to keep it looking good even if it is not being used. With the pool water temp at 52° F it was a little painful on my hands as I handled the long, wet, cold pole attached to the vacuum head for almost 90 minutes. I even vacuumed the Jacuzzi, cleaned all the filters, and finished with back flushing the large sand filters.
With order restored to the pool area I turned my attention to painting the 9 new mini golf hole plaques. I took them all outside to the deck railing of the maintenance building to paint them while the sun was still coating the area......
Painted....
....waiting to be painted....
.....the paint.....
......I applied two coats of the sea foam green to the top, and sides of each plaque, and one coat to the backside to seal the wood. I then used a black 'paint pen' to apply the lettering to each plaque. I think I came pretty close to duplicating the original plaques......
.....the finished products....
.....while I let the paint dry in between coats I spent time at hole #3 of the mini golf course removing the ant infested post which held that plaque, and then digging a new post hole for the new post. I then went up to the storage area to find a suitable 4"x 4" post, and then cut it to length. All of that took me right up to quitting time. I managed to get 5 of the 9 plaques lettered, and three sides of the new post for hole #3 stained......I'll finish everything on Thursday, and then install them.
The temp got up to 66°, but by 2:30 pm it began to cool quickly as it is wont to do this time of year. I had to put my hooded sweatshirt on right after lunch for the rest of my shift. I was able to wear my work shorts for one more day, but I fear those days are waning quickly.
