Sign of the times, part two......

6:47 am - Tuesday - January 7th - Ramona, CA - 39° F, 55% humidity, wind 5 mph out of the east.....clear, blue skies this morning with a forecast high today of 75° F.

The weather since January 1st has just been idyllic here at RORVR, and Monday was just a continuation of the same.  I began my day doing my usual stuff (opening stuff, and checking on the pool) I returned to the dam bench project.  I left off Friday afternoon cleaning the paint off the planks from bench #3, and painting them.  Once I had the first coat on the planks I headed down to the dam to put a coat of paint over the primer I had applied on Friday on the metal base.  While I was in the middle of doing that I received a call from Rich on the 2-way to meet him at the office.....it was time to install the second new RORVR sign east of the park entrance for traffic heading west toward Ramona from points east.  Rich had already dug the holes for the sign posts, so it was just a matter of putting the posts in the holes, leveling them, and then hanging the sign.  I wrote about the installation of the first sign here.  We learned a lot from the installation of the first sign, so it took us about 40 minutes beginning to end to install the second one........

 Rich, admiring the finished product

.........the location of the second sign is about 1/4 east of the entrance as that is the first time there is a shoulder, and a place for us to park the truck, and not be working on a steep side hill.  By the time we finished putting away the tools, etc. it was about 12:20 pm so TLE and I left for lunch a little earlier than normal.

I spent the rest of the afternoon putting a second coat of paint on the planks from bench #3, and then removing the planks from bench #4 to begin scraping the old paint off them.  I'll probably reinstall the bench #3 planks Tuesday morning giving the second coat of paint time to dry, as well as cure a little, then return to the prep work on the planks for bench #4.  I began working on these four benches back on December 19th, and I think I'll finish the 4th bench by Thursday, January 9th, or earlier.  There are three more benches like these around the park, but they are in much better condition, so I'm not sure when, or if I'll get to them in the near future.

I had gone about as far as I could go on bench #4 around 3:30 pm so headed back to the pool to clean out the skimmers (we had a mild Santa Ana condition Monday) one more time.....they were once again packed with leaves blown into the pool by the winds.....then up to the water tower to check the water level before calling it a day.

TLE worked from 9 am to 5 pm filling in for Marnie who has been under the weather the past week.  She'll return to her normal schedule Tuesday (11 am to 5 pm).
